Thanks Mike! Bukowski certainly gives people ideas to chew on but, yes, as funny and well written as some of Women is, it’s consistently troubling and honestly pretty bleak. A man clearly in need of help repeatedly getting into abusive relationships and wrecking them, on repeat, for 200+ pages…
The fact that it is readable is honestly commendable! But I’d be hesitant to outright recommend it. Bukowski’s poems are far more pleasant, but I am curious to see what comes through in his other novels - planning to check out Factotum soon!
