Thank you Marc! This is actually an edit/reworking of an essay I did a couple of years ago now during a time when I was studying Malcolm X’s use of language for my English coursework essay.
We were never given a word count, so I racked up 12-13 thousand words for it. Then, a week before the due date, we were suddenly told that we had a maximum word count added of 2500, lol.
I’d still like to see your thoughts on this film! Just because I covered it doesn’t mean that you can’t/shouldn’t. There’s more to it than I’ve gotten to here, of course. I still also need to see the One Night in Miami film from a few years ago which features Malcolm in some capacity. Heard good things about that one!
It’s a real shame, to me, that there’s no truly great film about the Black Panthers. Beyond Agnes Varda’s 30ish minute documentary, there’s barely any of them in the film world. Judas and the Black Messiah was good, but not quite what I’ve been looking for. How Revolutionary Suicide hasn’t been adapted into a film I don’t know!
Hoping with the Israel/Palestine conflict that the Palestinians are finally able to find their freedom. Lord knows it’s about time they did.
