Ahead of his upcoming album, Noisy Kandy 5, Rome Streetz has returned with a new single ‘Fire At Ya Idle Mind’. Almost a year after he released his Griselda-produced album Kiss The Ring, Streetz has since been proving himself as a rapper to be watched within the modern boom-bap scene.

Here, he works with Joey Bada$$ (known for his terrific work on 1999 and All Amerikan Bada$$) to create a gritty, punchy track. If ever there was a way to tease an upcoming Griselda album, it’s with a track like this. Produced by Wavy Da Ghawd, the track is immediately that trademark Griselda mix of smooth and slightly tense. Violin strings are punctuated by sudden piano keys, all atop a bouncy, classic boom-bap styled drum beat. It’s an incredibly catchy loop, with the rising strings providing tension which is quickly defused by the jabbing keys.

The work of the two rappers are the real focal point, though. While there is no doubt that the beats of Griselda’s usual artists such as Conductor Williams will call for attention in and of themselves, Wavy is willing to sit back a little more and let the focus be on Rome Streetz and Joey Bada$$.
