I’m too young to remember a time when Michael J. Fox was a real star. In fact, I was even late to see any of his movies. I first saw Back to the Future at around fourteen, if my memory serves. But even then, J. Fox proved a charismatic and intensely memorable presence. I recall being surprised and saddened when hearing that he had stopped acting for the most part due to having Parkinson’s, but hearing consistently of his work for the disease has been admirable over the years.

Still crosscuts between Michael J. Fox telling the story of how he became a Hollywood star (and how his personal life, films/TV and stardom all fed into one another) and contemporary footage of him working through his treatment and coping with the disease.
