Nothing is Working

An experimental poem or an exasperated list of tried and failed betterments. Who said art can be defined in black and white terms?

Published onto my own page as opposed to a publication because I’m all too aware that this might be one of the worse experiments.

Image taken and edited by the author.

Three cycles through therapy,

Enough pills to kill a country,

Retail therapy

Designed to keep the mind

Occupied with what doesn’t matter.

Escapist games, low quality comedy TV,

Sit-coms and new shoes and a camera lens and

Speaking with old friends and

Trying to make new ones.

Long walks, short walks, short talks, long talks,

Hot showers, cold showers, standing in the rain

Standing in the sun until my skin burns once again,

Being so numb that I can’t feel a thing,

Or being so emotional that I’m affected by everything.

Therapists and therapists and therapists

And CBT.

Fill in these questionnaires! Don’t leave out a single thing.
