My experience when learning about ARFID was similar! A kind of eureka moment after years of being confused, an alleviation of that 'what is wrong with me?' feeling.
Even now in my house, despite the knowledge of ARFID and the now recognised fact that more pressure is directly unhelpful, I'm frequently pushed into trying things. Thankfully, learning about ARFID more has given me the confidence to outright say no and to take things as much at my own pace as I can. So far, so good, but it's exhausting to work on alongside working on my still extreme anxiety/panic disorder and just living a tolerable life. Any progress is something, though, and worth being grateful for :)
As always, I appreciate your empathy Amanda :) <3
