I've always been mystified by this film. Did not know about that brutal re-cutting - that part is interesting, and doesn't entirely surprise me.

I also find it interesting that the experimental hip-hop group 'clipping.' sampled Blood of the Thing (and this film) on their song Blood of the Fang. A great song! On a horror themed rap album. Also really interesting stuff happening there.

I had heard the song many times before getting around to this film, and hearing the sampled parts shocked me to say the least! Made it that bit more difficult to keep a grip on the film's slippery narrative.
