It is worth a try. I am in a minority having not liked it very much, but even I would say it's worth a shot - and enjoyable in a cinema, where its good shots are striking and the sound design is effective. Skarsgard was great as Pennywise, I agree!! Curry was good, but held back by the quality of the miniseries more widely lol. Skarsgard was given just enough focus to make an impression but remain unnervingly mysterious. I'm a big big fan of the 2017 It, it's overlooked!!

I share the love/hate towards high art horror - a lot of it becomes lost in its metaphors or feels like it is trying to hide the fact that it is horror at all, which is never good, but the great stuff can be staggering! If you haven't seen it, I'd definitely recommend Werner Herzog's version of Nosferatu - he's a fantastic German director. It also stars Isabelle Adjani from one of the best high-art horror movies ever - Possession (1981)!
