I'm not certain where he lives now, but yep - seems he is still in Russia. His commentary here on Russia/Ukraine dynamics is subtle, so I can imagine he was able to escape too many issues, but I haven't seen his other films yet which also are supposedly focused on similar themes. Leviathan seems to be about corruption in Russian law? Looking forward to seeing it sometime!
